Dr. Yazdan-Ashoori likes to joke that his training journey did a “tour of Ontario”.

He attended Western Univeristy, completing a Bachelor of Medical Sciences and was awarded the Governor General’s Medal for the highest undergraduate academic standing in the University. He then attended Queen’s University for medical school, where he was awarded various prizes and scholarships, ultimately being awarded the prize for the highest overall standing in medical school. He then pursued Internal Medicine at McMaster University, where he was voted as best Chief Medical Resident. He went on to train in Adult Cardiology at The University of Toronto followed by Fellowship training in Adult Echocardiography at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Throughout his training, he has published many peer-reviewed articles in various topics spanning the spectrum of cardiology.

Dr. Yazdan-Ashoori holds Diplomates in Comprehensive Echocardiography through the National Board of Echocardiography and in Nuclear Cardiology through the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology. He has active staff privileges at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, where he also performs trans-esophageal echocardiography. He practices all aspects of cardiology.

DR. BISHOY DEIF

Dr. Deif graduated from the University of Sydney Medical School in 2012. He did his Internal Medicine training at McMaster University, followed by cardiology training at Western University. He returned to McMaster to obtain sub-specialized training in arrhythmia and cardiac devices.

He has been honoured with numerous research grants and teaching awards. He has been published in several reputable journals including the Canadian Journal of Cardiology, Heart Rhythm, Annals of Internal Medicine and Pacing & Electrophysiology. He continues to be actively involved in cardiology and arrhythmia research. 

He is active staff cardiologist at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre since 2020 where he implants cardiac devices and looks after critically ill cardiac patients in the CCU. While there, he helped to spearhead and grow the arrhythmia and cardiac pacemaker programme.

Dr Deif’s practice includes all aspects of general cardiology. His area of special interest includes management of patients with arrhythmia disorders and those with or needing cardiac devices such as pacemakers and defibrillators.
